Simple worksheet with answers

This is a 4 page document containing 2 questions, and 16 questions regarding finding fractions of amounts. Examples given have both 1, and a number greater than 1 as the numberator. This can be used to challenge students due to the denominator of some of the fractions being equal to a number as large as 20. For example, some of the sub questions require you to find ‘3 twentieths’ of the original value given. Easy to print, and saves on space because two examples fit on a sheet of A4. This is a free sample of my function machine style resource, specifically for standard form. There is a choice of 4 worksheets (2 easy and 2 hard). Each pair of easy and hard worksheets have matching solutions. The easy worksheet just has numbers in the input grid [the red grid in the centre of the page], wheras the hared worksheet just has numbers in the output grids [the four green grids on the outskirts of the worksheet]. The worksheet is easy and intuitive to use: starting with an ‘input’ number you need to apply an operation [listed below the green grids] to deduce an output. Random name gtenerator using excel

The aim of this worksheet is to answer 8 questions at the bottom of the sheet and they should link to 8 answers above. All 8 answers above link either horizontally or vertically. The path always starts at the top left cell of the grid and it will finish in the bottom right position of the grid. The students should then label their grid path with steps 1-8, with the top left always being 1 and the bottom right always being 8. Finally the students need to copy the numbers from the grid above and match with their answers in the final right column (Section of Loop). This worksheet contains 11 different fraction grids which you need to find the missing fractions in. There are a range of easy, medium, and hard resources, as well as use of all four operations. This is a sample of a generator I made. Each worksheet is a 5x5 grid, where the first row and column provide different fractions as headers. You have to apply different operations to these fractions in order to fill out the remaining 4x4 grid, which falls between these row and column headers. All solutions are included. The easy worksheets for the operation ‘adding’ involve the column and row headers being added together, given the denominator of the resulting fraction. The medium worksheets involve adding the column and row headers, without the hint of the given denominator of the resulting fraction. This problem works such that the inside ring contains the numbers 1-8, and the outside ring contains the numbers 1-8. Every number outside the flower represents the product of the petal numbers.

Two puzzles based on the popular kakuro

Simple substitution to more complex problems involving simultaneous equations.

This resource is great for revising knowledge on division, practise ‘bus stop method’ or to be used as a quick numeracy starter. The idea is you start at the top of the division wheel, and as you move vertically down the sheet you are given numbers that are smaller than the original number. Therefore, the aim of the student is to work out what they need to divide by in order to get from the original number to the new number. There are 8 division problems per worksheet, and each worksheet is compact such that three copies of each worksheet fit on one side of A4. There are 3 examples of four operation grids. For each example you have 6 equations that need to be satisfied before numbers are placed within.

Students must find all answers to the 8 questions in a grid. All answers will form a snake like pattern. Students then must write down the section of the loop (the loop starts top left of the page and finshes bottom right). This reveals a ‘magic code’.

This is a number challenge puzle which is based on multiplication, addition and using the numbers 5-12 once each. Every octagon in this puzzle uses the numbers 5-12 exactly once, to give varying products and sums. Each octagon has one clue number given. Please review if you found helpful.

This involves finding the angles within a hexagon, and all the shapes within this hexagon. This worksheet also involves algebra to calculate angles, for examples some of the angles are defined as ‘h+?’, where ‘?’ is an integer. This is a FREE resource of 8 percentage problems. There are 8 bubbles in total for each question, giving a total of 64 sub-questions. The differing percentages you need to find are consistent for the top left and bottom left problems i.e. for all these problems you need to find 75%, 30%, 50% etc. of the original value. However, these percentages are in a random order for each question. The right hand side problems requires you to find more specific percentages, which will generally require the use of a calculator (but can be done without a calculator). Moreover, the bottom right problem requires you to find percentages greater than 100% as well as less than 100%, which can nicely lead students onto understanding the importance of multipliers in the topic percentages. Due to using highly composite numbers, the resulting amounts, are generally whole numbers.
