Everything your students need to know about fossils and fossilization! It also includes extension activities suitable for 7-8th grade students. My students are always curious about the fossil formation, life in the past, extinction and evolution of organisms and are happy to search for information and examples to support scientific explanations. It is aligned with NGSS Disciplinary Core Ideas: ESS1C, Crosscutting Concepts: Patterns and Science Practice: Constructing Explanations and Designing Solutions. The educational resource consists of the worksheet that guides the teacher and students step-by-step through all the important topics about fossils in a comprehensive way.

Get your students hands-on with this is a laboratory activity that will enable them to study cellular respiration in lentil seeds! Tested in a Science contest the school-made respirometer that is very easy to assemble using everyday materials. My students were excited to use the respirometer to actually record data and make calculations in this biology experiment. It is aligned with NGSS Disciplinary Core Ideas LS1C and LS2B, Crosscutting Concepts: Energy and Matter and Science Practices: Scientific Knowledge is Based on Empirical Evidence. The activity consists of a worksheet (cellular_respiration_rate) with a full description of the laboratory set-up, the educational objectives, theoretical background and step-by-step experimental procedure.

Engage your students with this hands-on resource, comprising both classroom and laboratory activities about one of the most important functions of the ecosystem! It will help you understand your students' prior knowledge on the subject, complement their knowledge and develop their skills to research all the factors that play key role in photosynthesis. Plus... it is also fun! My students had a great time performing the starch photography experiment, printing pictures on plant leaves. What is more, it is aligned with NGSS Disciplinary Core Ideas LS2B and C, Crosscutting Concepts: Energy and Matter and Science Practice: Engaging in Argument from Evidence. The educational material consists of the worksheet that guides the teacher and students step-by-step through all the important topics about photosynthesis in a comprehensive way.
