What is Straight to Teaching?

Straight to Teaching supports your trusted TAs and unqualified teachers to develop their teaching skills through a personalised qualified teacher status (QTS) preparation plan. Once they've gained the equivalent of two years' teaching experience and can demonstrate that they meet the English Teachers' Standards and Assessment Only criteria, they can be assessed via the Assessment Only (AO) route to gain QTS.

Develop talented teaching staff

  • Deliver learning tailored to your staff’s needs.

  • Retain great staff who might otherwise leave your school to train elsewhere.

  • Increase the number of qualified teachers at your school.

  • Free up experienced staff to take on extra responsibilities such as SLT.
