About Marymount International School
Marymount International School London is a Catholic independent day and boarding school for girls aged 11-18.
Marymount is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School and offers the IB Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. The School was the first all-girls school in the UK to take on the IB Diploma as the curriculum of choice in 1979. Highly regarded by top universities, the Diploma programme is known for providing both depth and breadth of study, with students required to take six subjects across the curriculum.
Marymount’s goals “to instill a life-long love of learning” and “create unity through diversity” are closely linked with the IB Mission. The student body, made up of around 250 girls, represent all of the major world religions and over 45 nationalities. The students work together, with the staff and each other, to build a community of learners.
Located on a private estate, just twelve miles from central London, Marymount’s seven acre campus is in an exclusive residential area in Kingston upon Thames. The school benefits both from easy rail and road access to central London as well as international airports at Gatwick and Heathrow. Students enjoy the proximity to London and take advantage of its historical sights and arts offerings. Educational tours and curriculum based field trips, including participation in Model United Nations, take place annually to increase the students’ involvement and understanding of not just their local surroundings but the world at large. Students take an active part in their school community through drama, music and art, and compete both nationally as well as internationally in a number of sports.
Marymount London is a member of the Catholic Independent Schools Conference, the Girls’ Schools Association, the Boarding Schools Association and the Independent Schools Council. It is accredited by the Middle States Association of Schools & Colleges (USA) and the Council of International Schools.
Students attend either as day or boarding students. 5-day boarding is also available. Class sizes are small and study programmes are planned to meet the needs of individual students.
