About Penistone Grammar School ALC
Penistone Grammar School is a co-educational secondary school located in the market town of Penistone, near Sheffield in South Yorkshire. It is a larger-than-average school, educating around 1,500 pupils aged 11-18.
Originally founded in 1392, the school ceased to be a grammar school in 1969 and is currently run as a community school. It has seen extensive expansion and modernisation over the years, and moved to a brand-new purpose-built site in 2011. Pupils benefit from a range of modern facilities, including design and technology workshops, science labs and a sports hall.
We have a number of upcoming vacancies for September 2019, and would love to invite teachers and support staff into school to find out more about us and our expansion. Please come and join us at our Recruitment Open Morning on Saturday 19 January 2019. Please see click here to register for the event.

Values and vision
Penistone Grammar School strives to adopt the best practice when it comes to education, making extensive use of its modern facilities and resources to deliver the best teaching possible. The school has the motto “Aim High, Be Determined, Be Brave, Be Supportive, and Be Proud”. These values were developed by students.
The school works hard to provide for students regardless of which path they choose in education, be it academic or vocational. The sixth form offers a wide range of A-levels and BTECs.
“Students achieve well in the sixth form because teaching is consistently at least good. They are informed particularly well of the options available to them after school… Teaching is securely good, with a growing amount that is outstanding.”
