About The Charles Dickens School

About The Charles Dickens School

The Charles Dickens School is a mixed secondary school for students aged 11-18, located in Broadstairs, Kent. There are nearly 1,200 students in attendance, and around 50 enrolled in the sixth form. The school has a supportive and active parents and friends association, to which all parents are subscribed automatically.

The school opened its own sixth form in 2013 to encourage students to study for two further years. The Charles Dickens School prides itself on being an integral part of the local community. It organises a number of work-related placements and charity fundraising. It also offers pupils the chance to attend international educational visits.

Values and vision

The Charles Dickens School is dedicated to helping students reach their full potential. The school environment encourages them to be innovative, to challenge themselves and to be part of the educational community. Teachers pride themselves on promoting British values while preparing children for their future beyond education. "Expect, Believe, Achieve" is the school's main slogan.

Ofsted report

“Students achieve well in English. Despite arriving at the school with lower than average Key Stage 2 results they achieve near national average standards in this subject.”
