These ‘Grade 9’ practice papers are designed to practice the highest end of the GCSE specification and stretch the most able students. These would be excellent practice for A Level students too and any mathematicians looking for some fun with algebra, geometry and problem solving. There are 3 papers - One non-calculator and 2 calculator papers and I have endeavored to include all elements of the specification within the 3 papers. Included in downloads are the full paper, a concise version to save on printing and full solutions. Paper 1 is a non-calculator paper and so numerical skills and arithmetic will be tested. The questions have been taken from Summer/Nov EDEXCEL GCSE actual exam papers and mostly consist of the last 2-3 questions from each series. They also come with MS and Worked Solutions, which can be used independently by the more able students.

Our faculty and I put together this guidance for the new 1-9 Maths curriculum, We spent a lot of time trying to compare with old levels and grades. We are aware that the type of question does depend on the grade and that exam boards wont agree with this but we think it is useful and helps to focus newly qualified teachers and more importantly students.

This document is made up of 20 exam-style questions and marking scheme to match. It is versatile and can be used as an assessment , revision or homework resource . I have used these successfully to prepare my learners for exams and also to generally help them build confidence in tackling a variety of problems on various topics in the curriculum. They will start by describe the process of reabsorption and using math skills to calculate percentage reabsorption. They will then explain why molecules are reabsorbed by the nephron.
