An editable script for a space-themed assembly for younger pupils.
Features two songs for children to sing and 30 separate speaking parts (though these are easily combined should you have children who do not wish to speak).
The basic premise of the assembly is that two children in the class want to go on holiday to space and so listen to some facts about the eight planets to help make their decision. They don’t want to stay on planet Earth because it’s too messy!
In the end they realise that the other planets would not be great holiday destinations because they’re too hot/too cold/too rocky/too smelly! They choose to stay on planet Earth but realise that they have to help to look after it to keep it a nice place to live.
We had great success with this assembly in Reception last year - the children (and parents) loved it - and it’s easily edited to make it work for other classes.

These clear, detailed and visually-appealing resources help to detail and categorise the EYFS foundation learning in each of the primary curriculum subject areas
It is an important resource for EYFS teachers and parents, but also subject leaders, to aid them in the development of a clearly-mapped and well-sequenced subject curriculum across the school.
This organiser groups the subject-related learning into the relevant EYFS areas of learning (e.g. Understanding the World, Expressive Arts and Design, Communication and Language, etc.)
The resources are designed to be printed onto A3, and are provided as both PDF and Word documents (so that you can edit if you want to). All images used are licensed for commercial use and are cited on a separate document (included).
This Reading Comprehension worksheet is suitable for upper intermediate to proficient ESL learners. The text describes in detail the International Space Station, its importance in the field of science and innovation and its possible future ventures.
After carefully reading a text, students are required to complete some comprehension exercises including: questions, True or False, gap filling exercises, a matching exercise, a crossword and finally participate in an in class discussion on the ISS and the broader field of space exploration. The vocabulary used in the text is rather advanced and can also be used for IGSCE, TOEFL or IELTS vocabulary building purposes. The handout can be completed in class or assigned for homework. Ideally, this handout could be used along a #GoogleExpeditions ISS virtual reality trip!

A word document of astronaut labels that can be persoanlised for each student.
This resource, last updated on 16th July 2024.
How I use this resource: Set up a role play area in your classroom based on the topic of ‘Space’. Children can be given the freedom to explore and create their own games using these astronaut labels, to pretend they are going up into space. You could also incorporate these into a lesson input or getting children into groups to act out what they think it would be like to go into NASA and then up into space.
Worksheet and comprehension on the Solar system and planets. Would be good for revision of the planets and as a stand alone if you need a sub/substitution/cover pack for Junior Certificate Science students.
Would also work for other School curriculums.
Please leave feedback.
To be used as a guided reading comprehension activity alongside Collins Big Cat book The Sun and the Moon.
Focus phonemes, tricky word and speed words. Cloze activity questions. Child to draw a picture of the sun or moon and write facts in sentences/captions.
This resource is a non-fiction comprehension activity for year 2. The theme of the comprehension is ‘living in space’ and the booklet covers what it is like for astronauts living in space stations, including what they eat, how they sleep, how they exercise and what they do in their spare time. It would be perfect for using during ‘World Space Week’ in October, during a space topic or during ‘Science Week.’
The booklets are based on the KS1 SATs reading paper. I have included 3 differentiated levels. There are a range of ‘what,’ ‘where,’ ‘how’ and ‘who’ questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers. The activity is also laid out in a similar way to the SATs booklets. There is a title page with helpful words followed by four pages of pictures and short written extracts to read and 4 questions per page. Each differentiated level contains 16 questions in total.
There is a colour and black white PDF version of the booklet for each level and answers are also included.
The Moon has 'phases.' That means it looks a little different to us each night during its one-month orbit of our planet. We describe how the Moon looks with terms such as 'Full Moon,' 'First Quarter,' and 'New Moon' (which we can't really see, because the side that is lit faces away from us).
The Moon has no light of its own. Moonlight is sunlight bouncing off the Moon&'s surface. As the Moon orbits Earth, the Sun lights up whatever side of the Moon is facing it.
1 of 5 quizzes that each last for about 10 minutes. Great for form / tutor group time or any other purpose! Each question slide is timed to 30 seconds with a countdown timer. Quizzes 2 to 5 are available here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/general-trivia-quizzes-for-form-time-tutor-group-assembly-11829293
