Noughts and Crosses GCSE Drama AQA Scheme of Work

(0)
A full scheme of work for studying the play Noughts and Crosses for GCSE Drama - AQA Set Text. The first 21 lessons are about exploring the play and are mostly practical with some exam technique, so students are introduced to the questions. Then there is revision and an end of unit assessment in the style of a mock exam. There are also detailed revision resources for revising the play for the final exam, a revision booklet for students, examplar answers, and additional sets of exam questions. Some of the powerpoints are quite brief and simple, because some lessons are purely practical, but the revision powerpoints are a lot more detailed. Please note, I focus on the acting 20 mark question and not the design 20 mark question in this scheme.

AQA Drama Devising Portfolio Student Guide (Two guides: HAT & LAT)

(0)
This booklet supports the AQA GCSE Drama Devising Portfolio. This resource supports students who are formatting their portfolio as a scrapbook-style piece of work, or could be adapted to support students writing an essay-style response. The guide is broken into three sections: Section 1: Response to a Stimulus Section 2: Development and Collaboration Section 3: Analysis and Evaluation HAT Guide: Geared towards Grade 5-7 students, with specific stretch and challenge tasks for Grade 8+ ability students Each section has 4/5 pages with suggested headings, layouts, sentance starters, what to include, how to gain extra marks and hit the top band and the most important things students need to include in each section or page. Each section also has a contents page, and the marking criteria for that section to allow HAT students to self-mark or peer assess each others’ work easily. LAT Guide: Geared towards Grade 2-4 students Each section has 4/5 pages, as the HAT guide. The LAT guide is set out in a way that the left side of the booklet sets out what to include/write about, and the right side of the booklet is a template for students to complete either digitally or by hand to ensure they are including key pieces of information, and do not structure their work like an essay. As the booklet progresses into Section 3, the right hand side of the booklet becomes blank to stretch students’ layout skills. Each section has a contents page and the marking criteria. At the end of the booklet there is a a Glossary of vocabulary students should be including in their work, such as: Theatrical Skills Command words Performance styles Devising vocabulary A list of how meaning is communicated (used to support Section 2 & 3). **This booklet has been used since the introduction of the new specification, and students who have used it have received above national average results for Component 2 for two years in a row. The layout of the booklet also assists with the marking of work, and has supported Component 2 marks submitted by the author being commended for their accuracy for the past two years **

AQA GCSE Drama Component 1 How to answer the 2018 Question Paper!

(0)
This is more of a resource than a lesson, although you can of course deliver it as such. It is worth highlighting that the questions in every exam paper remain the same across the five set texts, only the references to the actual text change. Therefore, there is an opportunity for students to work on writing skills that is relevant to all the set texts. This might come in useful as a starting point before you start your set text, or even before you choose your set text. So of course, use this as a whole lesson and deliver it to your students in one go. Doing so might be a good introduction once you’ve delivered the Full Exam breakdown. It might also prove to be useful doing it in this way as a revision tool closer to the exam. We think that the best way to use this resource is to split it up into questions and/or sections and deliver the content over a much longer period. Spend time looking at each question individually, and when you do, use this resource as a starting point to discuss what knowledge and skills the students are going to need to answer the questions. Use this resource in as many ways as possible to get the best value from it. This resource could be printed out for a display or given to students as a handout. All we ask is that you don’t modify the presentation or layout of the information.

AQA GCSE Drama Component 2 Devised Drama Log

(1)
Three lessons on how to approach writing the Devised Drama Log Book for the current AQA GCSE Drama syllabus. The lessons go through the requirements of the what the students need to write for each section and breaks it down into thoughtful statements designed to bring out focused and detailed responses to the general points given in the specification. There are also worksheets to help guide the students before they are start the written work and to self or peer asses their work after it is completed. The worksheets are not designed to be writing frames and I would advise against giving them to students to use for that purpose. Any outlines, paragraph or sections headings used in these documents are taken from the specification and not additional new material.
