A teaching / revision PPT on the poem. It includes notes on structure, form, language devices, contextual links. Although it has been designed for the WJEC GCE English Literature, it is suitable for any specification / poetry study. The PPT forms a complete lesson resource; it will take 1-2 lessons to work through. Its structured design makes it an excellent resource for independent study / revision. Further to the lesson PPT, there is a worksheet that can be utilised in the following ways: to provide structure for students’ individual/paired/group work in the lesson; as homework task to consolidate their knowledge of the poem; as a revision resource. Suggested answers to each section of the table (apart from ‘Links to other poems’) are included in the lesson PPT.

This is a lesson with resources for Y11 students studying Edexcel Lit. It begins with an extract from Keats which explains the reason he wrote the poem. This is returned to for more informed discussion twice in the lesson. There are differentiated activities looking at themes and then students annotate in groups, feed back to the class followed by fully annotated stanzas to ensure good understanding.
