Project to teach KS3 students about the life and works of Artist and Architect Antoni Gaudi. Slides will enable students to analyse his works and then demonstrate their understand through a range of creative design activities.
Researching an artist? This sheet supports the children to begin to:
Choose an artist to focus on
Find out information about their chosen artist, including the art form they use
Find out interesting facts about
Identify pieces of art created by the artist
An opportunity to have a go at the artists piece of work and draw the artist themselves.
Consider what they think of the artwork of an artist
A great template to use to begin to focus on a particular artist, as a springboard for discussions and further information gathering about artists!
These A3 worksheets were made for younger years to learn how to do an artist research page. The second sheet is a variation on the first, created for my pupils with SEN in mind - it may not work for all but it has worked for mine.
The questions about the artist are to help the pupils to find information that is relevant and the sentence starters to inform what could be included in an artist analysis. For this lesson, I gave out four different texts about an artist for pupils to read through to find the information needed to answer the questions.
For the speedy workers in your groups, a fun extension task is to decorate the sheet and is encouraging for them to complete the writing.
I hope you find them helpful!
Three useful worksheets to complement any Angie Lewin Project
The first worksheet I use to get my class to work in different media in the four different boxes e.g. hot colours, cold colours, blending, pencil work, watercolour etc
The second sheet has blank boxes. This would be useful if you wanted your class to come up with four different designs for a final piece.
The last work sheet is a larger line drawing. You could either work in one media (perhaps the one that was the most successful on the first sheet) or use a compass or viewfinder to select sections of it, and work in different media.
These would also be useful for cover work.
A list of useful artists and designers for both GCSE Art & Design and Graphic Communication. Each slide has examples by the artist as well as their name. These are useful for students looking to research artists as part of more independent projects.
This resource supports KS3 students in their investigations in to the work of artist, Michael Craig-Martin. Included are a brief PowerPoint, which has a drawing activity, and a detailed worksheet with discussion points and questions, of varying difficulty. The worksheet is designed to be printed A3, folded in half and laminated as A4 so that it is double sided. A QR code links to a YouTube video of an interview with the artist.

Hi everyone
Here are my top 21 artists based on the themes “Buildings/Paces” which I have carefully selected as they have inspired my students across all age groups when developing and creating their own work based on their own projects. This powerpoint includes the names of the artists, images of their work as a reference and examples of A/Asketchbook pages created by students.
The artists are all very different: Its been in order to show the development of styles and techniques, from Black and white to colour, also showing different styles: Illustration, surrealism, photography, expressionism, mixed media, collage and realism painting styles. There are also slides at the end explaining what a confidence artist sketchbook page looks like and resources for you to share with students to help them write about their artists.
I can promise you this powerpoint will be a very important and inspiring resource for you and your students.
I hope that you find this powerpoint visually inspiring and useful in encouraging your students to create confident and exceptional artist pages. Remember to check out my other artist resources in my shop.
Thank you
Artist inspiration boards
I have created a series of slides ready for printing and then laminating for a classroom inspiration display.
The idea is to visually inspire students to look at artists work and then link to their own work.
GCSE Art & Design Artist Research Page Layout. This layout enables students to easily and clearly see how to layout a successful artist research page. Using each box as a guide, students will be able to construct an artist research page that links all four assessment objectives. Page two is a list of questions that students can answer to help them write out their annotations.
Want to improve the quality of your students artist research?
This PDF poster aims to guide students guidance and inspiration to produce excellent artist research pages. Primary targets are KS4, but can be used equally with KS3 and KS5. Two versions are included: A3 and A4 printables - stick them up as display for constant reference or photocopy for sketchbooks or focused research lesson.
Soon enough they’ll be in the habit of producing great research!
