A video created by The National Apprenticeship Service (NAS).
Continuous technological advancement in the security industry has created a skills gap. The Apprenticeship programme bridges that gap by providing engineers with a greater breadth of skills. Over 12 years they have trained 15 engineers and two IT apprentices and 10% of their workforce are currently completing Apprenticeships. Apprenticeships allow them to instil their company values and customer service ethics into their future engineering team.
This comprehensive pack, aimed at learners currently undertaking the Pearson BTEC Level 2 Certificate and Diploma in Preparation for Public Services, particularly Unit 12: Security Procedures in the Public Services, includes briefs, all PowerPoints, worksheets, scheme of work, and a template specifically designed for Assignment 1. This bundle comprises of 9 lessons that detail in-depth and in an engaging manner, the complex nature behind the Bond Franchise, how it marketed itself and how the Movie Industry operates.
If one were to buy these resources separately it would cost them £16 but when bought as part of a bundle, you save 28% off.
The lessons include the following:
LESSON 27-29 (TRIPLE)= This Triple lesson focuses on introducing students to the concept of Industry. If like me you have been following Model 1 on the EDUQAS suggested SOW, this will be the first time that students have really engaged with the concept. The lesson covers:
- As of the end of 2017, the 5 highest highest grossing Film institutions
-An overview of who made 'Spectre' e.g. EON, MGM etc.
-Two fantastic extended features on Film promotion and marketing which are highly informative and engaging.
-Idents
-Producers
-Synergy
-Distributor
-The history of film marketing and promotion
-How a film is financed with reference to another case study 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes'
-Commercial viability
-The various ways a film can be marketed and an in-depth look at how 'Spectre' promoted and marketed itself
-Oligopolies
-Conglomerates
-Monopolies
-The life cycle of a movie from production to consumption
-Bankruptcy issues with MGM and unique ways both 'Spectre' and another Blockbuster Franchise 'Transformers' raise extra capital to make movies.
LESSON 29-31= BOND OWNERSHIP AND REGULATION: This Triple lesson continues to explore Industry and 'Spectre'. This lessons details a variety of concepts but must importantly includes a easy to navigate breakdown of the Bond franchises ownership, which is extremely complex. The lesson includes:
- A fun and engaging code breaking starter that see's students decode a message that has been distorted by Blofeld to help Bond and Q. It reveals a LV9 exemplar written by me on who owns Bond, with some key facts contained within.
-Introduction to who the producers of Bond are.
-A screening of the Live announcement of 'Spectre' which was done a year before production started. This is great for marketing pre-production.
-What regulation is including the difference between Self-regulation and Independent Regulation.
-An in-depth look at the BBFC and their guidelines which are provided in the Power Point
-A breakdown of all of the Regulators in the UK which is a reusable resource for future forms to be covered.
-Various clips detailing Bond's distribution etc.
- A audio-visual task where students, with the BBFC booklet, become BBFC censors. they will watch a selected clip from the top three most complained about movies of 2015, 'Spectre' being #1. This is reinforced by the inclusion of the BBFC's comments on the movies.
-A LV9 Industry help sheet on 'Spectre' which compiles info from the fact-sheet as well as other facts.
-WHY WAS IT IMPORTANT THAT ‘SPECTRE’ SECURED A 12A RATING IN THE UK? (Student essay response)
THIS LESSON ALSO INCLUDES A H/W TASK.
LESSON 32-34= BOND ONLINE MARKETING AND THE RISE OF NEW MEDIA= This Triple lesson concludes the Industry section of Bond and if you have purchased the previous Media Language and Representation units (See Bundles or purchase as single lessons) in my series, concludes the Bond Unit as a whole. This lesson explores New Media and selected pages from the Official website for 'Spectre' (an Examiner expectation). The concepts/ tasks covered within are:
- Revisiting of the three platforms; E-Media, Print and Broadcast
-New versus Old Media (students to assess pro's and con's of both)
-Convergence theory
-An exploration of 'Spectre's' revolutionary Snapchat campaign as well as the broadcast Heineken adverts for both 'Skyfall' and 'Spectre'.
-The utilisation of IMAX in the campaign.
-Brand Identity
-A debate which is outlined as follows= SPLIT THE CLASS INTO TWO AND DESIGNATE TEAM LEADERS. THEY WILL THEN BATTLE STATING THE BENEFITS OF THEIR MEDIA OVER THE OTHER. AS THE TEACHER YOU CAN BE THERE TO FACILITATE DISCUSSION AND USE PROBING QUESTIONING/OPEN QUESTIONING TO DRAW OUT ANSWERS. STUDENTS CAN ONLY USE THE BOND CAMPAIGN TO EVIDENCE.
-A single lesson dedicated to the exploration of 'Spectre's' Official site with a worksheet to condense student feedback gathered from group work to be used as a revision resource closer to the exam.
NOTE: I am following EDUQAS Teaching Model 1 in my teaching/ SOW. Moreover, each lesson has a task whereby students RAG (Red, Amber, Green) what they have learnt in the lesson against an Examiner checklist (Differentiation, peer assessment).
(Each lesson is laid out as I teach my own class but I have added notes at the bottom of some of the slides e.g. on the Media Teaser, to aide teachers. All lessons are developed with differentiation, assessment/challenge as well as engagement entrenched heavily within all my resources. Moreover, constant reference is made throughout to the selected Examiner Media.
If you liked this resource and found it useful, it would be greatly appreciated if you could feedback or rate my resource as I am constantly trying to adapt and refine my resources to improve the learning of my students. Many thanks.
