Getting To Know You Games

(1)
A PowerPoint with 10 different, fun 'get to know you' games perfect for form time and welcoming new classes. All of the instructions and resources you need to have a great time getting to know your pupils are in this Power Point . I use these for 'Family Friday' in form time to build a sense of family and community amongst my Y8 registration group. However, these games are fun for all ages - even adults! The games are a mixture of whole class, group, pair and individual activities. Some have been adapted from Dr Spencer Kagan's 'Silly Sports and Goofy Games' book which is a fantastic resource and a great book to buy if you want to learn more of these. Enjoy!

This resource pack contains everything you need to help break the ice with your students. This would be ideal for any new class whether they are just new to you or even new to each other! Although it is great for the start of the academic year, many of us deal with casual admissions and students who join late in the year. These resources will be great for helping you get to know them better and for them to integrate into the group. You will find physical activities to get them up and about, moving and talking to one another and finding things in common, helping the group to improve their social skills in talking, bonding and making new friends. Enjoy getting your group of students to begin bonding and making friends!

Getting-to-know-you activity for Science

This is a relatively short activity that can be used during the first lesson to help you learn more about your students. The students fill in the information, cut out the beaker and either hand this to their teacher or glue it into their books. It can also be used as an ice breaker game where the students fill in everything apart from their name. The beakers are then swapped around in class and students try to match up their beaker to the correct person. I have included a word document version, so you can edit the writing prompts.

It’s a good way to encourage them to talk to new pupils in their class as they have to find out the information from them. This activity is a good icebreaker for a new class. Suitable across KS2 and KS1. Also, adaptable.
