A brand new, fun and educational escape room, centred around ancient Egypt and the mysterious disappearance of a missing artifact. Work against the clock to solve the mystery before the dawn of the winter solstace, practicing history skills, critical thinking skills, teamwork and much more. Created with a target age of 11 to 14, this challenging escape room should provide a fun and educational end-of-year activity for your students! Professor Evelyn Westwood, the renowned archaeologist who discovered it, has vanished under mysterious circumstances, and the scroll has gone with her. By solving a collection of puzzles, your students will be guided from room to room on their quest to find a sacred missing artifact, the lost scroll of Ra. While the escape room is intended to be challenging, there is a great deal of support available to help your students in their quest, including explainer videos and animated hints/solutions that can accessed on the main PowerPoint. This magnificent display showcases all of the amazing things history has to over around the world! To make this display I used a world map (purchased off Amazon) and then, using the cards provided for you here, attached string to show where these amazing events took place to create this impressive display. Each fact cards includes; Image Beautiful font for each place name A short paragraph (no more than a few sentences) summarises that event or history of the country This has been tailored to my school curriculum, but this would look incredible regardless if you do these topics. Examples include; China (Song dynasty) Baghdad (Islamic World) Afghanistan (Soviet invasion) Japan (Hiroshima and Nagasaki) France (WW1, French Revolution) Germany (WW1, Weimar and Nazi Germany GCSE) Many places in America! (American West GCSE) - such as the Great Plains, Salt Lake City and more. Cuba (Cuban Missile Crisis) Titanic Egypt (Battle of El Alamein) Ireland (The Troubles) This display looks extremely impressive and I have had so many compliments on this, as well as causing a stir on social media with people who found it so impressive! To recreate the display as in my photos you will need to purchase a world map and string, however you could also place the fact cards on a display board or wall without a map and it would still look incredible! Please review if you purchase.

History Baseline Test

(1)
The aim of this test is to find out how much the students know about history. The results will give you a baseline from which you can build upon. Once they begin to study history, they will begin to show progress in all areas, particularly in the amount of detail required in answers. The test focuses on chronology, cause and consequence, change and continuity, historical enquiry, interpretation and significance. This is a particularly useful assessment for a history department and as a starting point and ideally for Year 7. Most students sadly will not have studied a lot of history at their primary schools (apart from the odd day to study the Victorians or World War 2) as literary, numeracy and SATS still dominate primary school curriculum planning. The resource comes in Word and PowerPoint formats which can be amended and changed to suit.
