Oscar Wilde's 'The Importance of Being Earnest': Study Prompts

(0)
This 15-page resource consists of a set of short writing tasks, and formal essay questions in the style of AP and IB examinations. The initial tasks focus student attention on significant aspects of each scene, and build up a full understanding of what Oscar Wilde is trying to achieve, how he is trying to achieve it, and how successful he has been. The scene-based questions can, additionally, be used as a basis for class discussion, and the essay topics as an invaluable tool for pre-examination revision and rehearsal. At a time-saving level, teachers will be relieved of the need to develop their own units of study for the work, and to seek out relevant questions from past examinations. The resource effectively promotes the Common Core State Standards CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9-10.1-6 and CC.ELA-LITERACY.RL.11.12.1-6.

Turn rainbows into rigorous, eye catching science with this ready to use research project template for middle school and high school. Students write a clear one paragraph summary, they could tackle real calculations and graphs in the mathematics connection using angle of deviation, Snell’s law, and wavelength relationships, and they might link ideas to the engineering or technological connection through optics in cameras, fiber optics, spectrometers, and atmospheric sensing. A five term glossary secures precise vocabulary for refraction, reflection, supernumerary rainbows, prisms, and Alexander’s band. Three challenging inquiry questions drive evidence based reasoning, with two extra sets of three questions included, an easier set for younger learners and a more challenging set for older students, so you can switch as needed for seamless differentiation. A creative item space invites ray diagrams, prism studies, photo analyses, or data visuals that explain primary and secondary bows and supernumerary arcs. Assessment is consistent with a 20 point rubric for self, peer, or teacher scoring, and supportive teacher guidance offers implementation tips, pacing ideas, and extensions, making this a practical, low prep purchase that delivers engaging, standards aligned learning on light and color. KS3 Light SLOP Question & Answer Booklet (Activate)

(0)
This high-quality question booklet is specifically designed to accompany the KS3 Science Activate 1 curriculum (covering both the 2016 and updated 2024 editions). The booklet follows the structure of the Activate Textbook precisely, providing a seamless transition between reading and independent practice. It allows students to systematically build confidence and mastery of the “Light” unit, from basic properties to complex refraction and color theory. What’s Inside: Lesson 1: Light (Sources, luminous vs. non-luminous, and how light travels) Lesson 2: Reflection (The Law of Reflection, specular vs. diffuse reflection, and ray diagrams) Lesson 3: Refraction (Bending light, mediums, and the effects of convex/converging lenses) Lesson 4: The Camera and the Eye (Structure of the eye, pinhole cameras, and the evolution of imaging technology) Lesson 5: Colour (Dispersion, the visible spectrum, filters, and how we see colored objects) Core Principles of This Booklet: Direct Textbook Alignment: Every section corresponds to the Activate 1 textbook sequence, making it the perfect resource for independent study, cover work, or structured classwork. Abundant Practice: Includes a wide variety of tasks, from simple diagram labeling and recall to complex ray tracing and data analysis. Speak Like a Scientist: Dedicated focus on tiered vocabulary, helping students move from “everyday” descriptions to precise terminology like specular reflection, diffuse scattering, and refraction. Visual Support: Packed with high-quality diagrams for reflection, refraction through prisms, and the anatomy of the human eye. Modeled Calculations: Uses the “EVERY” framework to support students through step-by-step calculations for the speed of light and light-year distances. Minimal Printing Costs: Designed to be used alongside the textbook. Most questions are answered directly in students’ exercise books, with specific “glue-in” diagrams provided only where essential for ray-tracing practice. Full Answers Included: Comprehensive answers and fully worked-out math solutions are provided at the back of the booklet for easy self-marking or teacher use. What Makes This Booklet Unique? Designed for All Abilities Each task is scaffolded so that foundational knowledge can be taken directly from the textbook. This ensures all students can meet the attainment threshold, while “Apply & Extend” sections at the end of every lesson challenge higher-ability learners with abstract concepts and advanced problem-solving. Comprehensive Practical & Literacy Support This booklet prepares students for the “how” and “why” of science. It includes dedicated preparation for required practicals (Investigating Reflection and Refraction) and provides structured help for comparing the biological functions of the eye to the mechanical functions of a camera. Save time on planning and marking with this all-in-one resource for the Activate 1 Light unit!

TES Maths Resource of the Year 2012. The Terrific Trio (and Dave) go Treasurehunting Take your students on a good old-fashioned Enid Blyton style adventure. They must solve the questions throughout the story to help the terrific trio (and Dave) in their quest. Massive literacy component to this 2000 word story. Ideal for students around Grade 5/6/7 level (there is no Higher tier only content, but some of the puzzles are fairly challenging and require higher level understanding) This 9 page activity could easily go into 2 or 3 lessons if you wanted it to, and contains puzzles on the following topics: Vector arithmetic SOH CAH TOA Circumference and area of circles and semi-circles Transformations - reflection, rotation, translation Compound area Volume of prism Draw graphs of the form ax + by = c Speed Extract: It was the summer holidays. Archibald, Beatrice, and Cassandra were outside enjoying their picnic of potted meat sandwiches and lashings of ginger beer, when they saw Dave come rushing down the lane with a battered old book in his hand. Dave was their younger, less pretty, and more dopey sibling. Archibald, Beatrice and Cassandra didn’t like to tell him this to his face – mainly because they didn’t like looking at his face. But he was their brother, and they loved him all the same. “I’ve just found this in Aunt Mathelina’s library,” panted Dave, out of breath from running through the village. “It’s a book.” “No way. A book? In a library? Whatever next?” piped up Beatrice sarcastically. “Shut your mouth, Beatrice. It looks really old. I’ve flicked through it and it seems like a history of the island. There’s a page that says there has been treasure hidden around here somewhere for hundreds of years, but it’s yet to be found.” “Golly, that sounds frightfully exciting!” exclaimed Archibald. Archibald loved a good adventure, almost more than he liked potted meat sandwiches and ginger beer. “Where do we start?” “Well,” said Dave, “there’s a map here. It says something about victors. What are victors? Wasn’t our great-grandad called Victor? Maybe he has something to do with it.” “VECTORS, you muppet. It says VECTORS. Give it here,” muttered Cassandra as she grabbed the dusty book and read the first of what was to be many puzzles in their adventure….

In order to make my marking more relevant to individual students' needs, while at the same time maintaining a certain amount of work/life balance, I have started a bank of Maths stickers designed to help me write less, while marking more. Ofsted commented last week, Jan 2015, that it also allows students to raise their own concerns and questions, thereby displaying progress over time in an outstanding manner, developing their communication skills, and pushing their learning outside of the students' comfort zones. If they are of any use to you, please feel free to alter/adapt as you see fit.

What I have done here is put the Edexcel Linear A new scheme into the weekly slots, and devided all the criteria/spec statements into Aims and Objectives. I wouldn't expect anyone to follow the same order, or keep my jokes, but please copy slides as you want. Inspectors love to see the aims pasted up, so I use PowerPoint.
