Teach Harriet Tubman’s life and leadership in Black resistance to slavery with a respectful, historically accurate resource featuring three differentiated nonfiction texts (Low, Mid, High). Students learn about Tubman’s early life under slavery, her escape to freedom, her courageous work on the Underground Railroad guiding others to safety, the dangers and networks involved, her Civil War contributions, and the lasting significance of her moral courage and commitment to collective action for freedom. Low: Years 5–7 | Mid: Years 6–8 | High: Years 8–10
Each reading level includes 8 engaging comprehension and response activities:
- Traditional written response questions
- Cloze summary task
- SAT-style multiple-choice quiz (3 pages higher level / 2 pages mid & low)
- True or False quiz
- 2 crossword puzzles (vocabulary-focused)
- Word search
- Mixed-format question sheet combining multiple question styles
- Bonus: The Mid Level includes two versions of the Traditional Written Response questions (bringing the total to 25 activities).
