This lesson is designed to continue on from the previous language features lesson. In that lesson, colour was briefly mentioned as part of a range of language features students will encounter in visual texts. In this lesson, the slides contain information about the common meanings attached to specific colours (accompanied by images from various teen media texts). The colours included are: blue, purple, green, red, orange, yellow, pink, white, black and brown. Then there are some images for students to describe (featuring representations of teenagers). Following this, students are introduced to camera angles (high angle, low angle and bird’s eye view) and shot sizes (extreme long shot, long shot, medium long shot, medium shot, close up, extreme close up). Next I have 3 public service announcements featuring teenagers for students to describe (writing activity to check for understanding).
