This resource consists of a power point which covers 3 lessons (all required worksheets are included and teacher notes in the notes area of each slide). The topic is weather forecasting. The first lesson is stand alone and the second and third are a follow on of each other. The 3 lessons allow you to teach: how weather is forecast, what an anticyclone is and why it occurs and what a depression is and why it occurs.

Each lesson includes both interactive areas and teacher led areas. I have used this with Year 7 classes but it could be used with any KS3 class.

The learning objectives for each lesson are as follows:

Lesson 1

  • We can identify key weather features which can be predicted
  • We can understand how weather is forecast
  • We can explain how weather is predicted

Lesson 2 & 3

  • We can understand how an anticyclone and depression occurs
  • We can identify the distinct features of an anticyclone and depression
  • We can explain why and anticyclone and depression occurs

On each slide the objective being worked on at that time is highlighted to ensure pupils are conscious of their progress at all times.
