A math playlet is a one act play designed for interactive mental math. Your kids will love applying math strategies they’ve learned to the collaborative, real-life interactive story settings. As director you will interact, reinforce concepts, keep the fun and energy levels high, and enjoy the collaboration with your class as students are asked to think about and apply math as the playlet progresses. While “mathematizing” with your students, they will experience curiosity, excitement, humor, team spirit, “what ifs”, “Ah-Ha’s”, drama, and “I got it, I can do this!”
Hook your students’ curiosity with the introductory photos and facts that set up the playlet. Students will use models, number lines, and drawings to demonstrate understanding of math reasoning.
This resource supports what administrators look for in an interactive math class. I have used interactive playlets when being formally evaluated and have received great feedback from others who have used them also.
