Four Seasons: Colour, Cut, Join & Learn is a creative EYFS and KS1 resource combining art, craft, seasonal change and weather learning with opportunities to develop fine motor skills.
The resource includes a useful planning sheet for teachers, with ideas for introducing and extending the activity, alongside black-and-white seasonal illustrations for autumn, winter, spring and summer.
Each seasonal scene is divided into three separate picture panels for children to colour, carefully cut out and join or arrange together to reveal the complete picture.
In art, a picture made from three connected panels is called a triptych, making this a simple and accessible way to introduce children to an art term and explore how separate images can work together as one composition.
The pictures provide a starting point for discussing the colours, plants, animals, trees, weather and other signs associated with each season, encouraging children to notice and compare seasonal changes.
A blank three-panel template is also included so children can design and draw their own seasonal or weather scene, supporting imagination and individual artistic choices, while a page of colour examples offers inspiration without limiting children to a set colour scheme.
The activity can be used as part of a seasons or weather topic, an art lesson, or to create an attractive Four Seasons classroom display.
