This 6-week scheme of work for Year 4 pupils in the UK focuses on developing fundamental movement skills and creative expression through gymnastics. The scheme is aligned with the Key Stage 2 objectives and includes key concepts such as developing physical and mental capacity, decision making and problem solving, personal development, and evaluating and improving. Each week focuses on a different aspect of gymnastics, including introduction to gymnastics, balance and coordination, floor work, vaulting, routine creation, and review and assessment. The scheme includes a range of activities and small-sided games to reinforce the skills being taught, as well as fun interactive games to engage and motivate students. By the end of the 6 weeks, students will have developed their fundamental movement skills, improved their balance and coordination, learned basic floor work and vaulting skills, and developed their creative expression and collaboration skills through creating a group gymnastics routine. The final week includes a review and assessment to provide students with feedback on their progress and identify areas for further improvement.
