This fully resourced bundle is designed to help A Level students confidently access the Edward VI section of the AQA 1C course, making the key ideas, themes and complexities of Tudor government far more approachable and engaging.

The Edwardian lessons challenge the traditional view of Edward VI as a marginal figure and instead encourage students to reappraise his monarchy through a clear, enquiry‑driven approach. Across the unit, students explore the central question: How fit was Edward VI to rule?

They examine Edward’s own chronicle to uncover his cold, often ruthless personality, and assess the extent of his influence over the English Reformation.

Students evaluate the significance of Somerset and Northumberland, judging how each duke handled the major challenges of finance, the economy, law and order, religion and foreign policy and why both ultimately fell from power.

They also study the key reformers and leading Evangelicals of the period, including Cranmer, Ridley and Hooper and their impact on the Edwardian Reformation.

The lessons are as follows:
L1 Introduction to Edward
L2 The rise of Somerset
L3 Rule of Somerset
L4 Rise of Northumberland
L5 Rule of Northumberland
L6 The Edwardian Reformation

The bundle includes both AQA exam question types, with model answers, hints and tips, scaffolding and mark schemes to support students in reaching the highest levels (please refer to the AQA website for official assessment materials).

All lessons are fully resourced, differentiated, and designed to stretch students aiming for top grades.
