This resource is a GCSE Photography Project Checklist for Year 11 students following the AQA curriculum. It serves as a structured guide for the coursework, helping students manage their project with a RAG (Red, Amber, Green) rating system to track progress.

The checklist outlines a detailed, multi-stage project that emphasizes the development and refinement of ideas. The key stages include:

Project Foundation: Students begin with a title page, a mind map, and preliminary studies.

Artist-Led Development: The core of the project involves in-depth research and practical work based on three artists.

First Artist: Students research a first artist, create thumbnails, and produce physical and digital manipulations based on their work. This is followed by two separate reshoot and development phases, where students are encouraged to add their “own spin” to the artist’s work and ensure their ideas flow.

Second Artist: Students must research a second artist whose work links to the first. This is also followed by two development stages, focusing on continued development and a cohesive flow of ideas.

Third Artist (Artist Merge): The final artist research stage involves an “artist merge,” where students combine ideas from previous artists.

Final Piece Preparation: The checklist guides students through the “Refining and Completing” phase, which includes developing final piece ideas, conducting photoshoots, preparing resources, and practicing edits for a final exam or a final piece. A time plan is also required to prepare for the “PPE exam”.

This checklist is an excellent tool for both teachers and students to manage and monitor the progress of a Year 11 photography project, ensuring all necessary components are completed for the AQA GCSE assessment
