A great resource to get learners excited about Chinese New Year 2016!

Question Answer Relationship (QAR) is a great technique for encouraging and improving reading comprehension with students. http://www.readingrockets.org/strategies/question_answer_relationship

The resource includes 3 clips for students to watch and QAR themed questions for each clip. The clips include:
-the story of the 12 Chinese Zodiac
-Chinese New Year fable – Nian
-a story about the Lantern Festival

The resource also includes a web-quest including 9 questions with extension activities (web game and mini art project).

Computers with access to the internet, Paint and Office applications and headphones are required.

This resource has been thoroughly designed so no extra prep or specialised ability is needed! It can help form a standalone literacy lesson or can be left as a cover lesson. Together all activities should last between 80mins – 120mins.

Can be easily adapted to suit other lessons you may have already planned.

This lesson should be accessible to years 7-8.

Activities are differentiated by the QAR levels, but there is also an extension activity at the end for more able students.
