Celebrate the rich culture of Mexico and the significance of Cinco de Mayo with these self-portraits showcasing the traditional clothing and instruments of Mexico. The student will depict themselves dressed in a traditional serape poncho and sombrero that they will design using paper, pom-poms, strings and other various materials as the hands of their self-portrait hold functional mini maracas that make noise when they are shaken with the Mexican flag colors of green, white and red inside of each maraca. They will also learn how to say and write some Spanish words associated with this celebration. A learning objective, subject summary and application in real life, materials needed for each student and the step by step directions needed to create this lesson are all detailed in each of my lesson plans.
