Students will observe the pop art style of Andy Warhol and create their very own pop art version of multiple equal sized sheets of different textures, colors and materials for variety and experimentation with their monoprints. They will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the elements of design for pop art by designing and constructing a collage employing the methods of monoprinting. They will choose a subject and draw the same subject on each texture using a different color mix for each one using a variety of materials to subtract the paint from the plate. Have your little explorers recognize, identify, and build the 3 ships of Christopher Columbus- the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria to sail the sea and explore for new lands just like Christopher Columbus to honor his discovery of the new world.Their artwork will be interactive because they get to pull the string to move along the 3 ships on the water that they have designed complete with passengers looking out the windows of each ship and massive sails.
