Students will be able to distinguish and identify the differences of the urban legend of the groundhog that sees his shadow to prove the future weather pattern by assembling a flip book to illustrate that a shadow that is cast from his body on a sunny day (winter is prolonged) and no shadow is cast on a cloudy day (spring comes early). They will also learn about the science of shadows and the concept of symmetry of the shadow cast from the groundhog.
