This lesson plan aligns with Oklahoma academic standard 1.N.4.3, in which students will know how many pennies, nickels, and dimes add up to a dollar. Begin teaching the lesson with the posters for the three coins. For the pennies, count each penny aloud by 1’s until they reach 100 (one dollar). Count by 5’s for the nickels and by 10’s for the dimes. Finally, use the cutout coins to allow students to count the coins in a hands-on learning activity. This can be a center activity!
