This one page, fully editable resource provides a “ready to go” statement to explain to your Senior team and Ofsted how metacognition is inherent in art education in your school. Metacognition is basically thinking about thinking and it is widely considered that this mindset can positively impact on learning. We do it all the time in art education, but we sometimes don’t realise it. Hopefully this will help. It is a word document, so you can add your own comments and personalise it for you own needs.

Updated for 2017-18. Thinking Skills are so important. Students and adults are often led to believe that there is only one right answer to the question. This doesn’t have to be the case though and it is really useful for students to be reminded of this, encouraging them to keep an open mind and explore possibilities. This way of thinking is referred to as divergent thinking and it goes hand in hand with creativity.
This resource provides questions that encourage students to problem solve and consider lots of answers to questions that don’t have just one right answer.
Each question is presented on an individual page so that they can be printed out and students can jot down ideas, scribble notes and even draw diagrams if they feel like it.
Updated for 2017-18. This collection of resources includes group discussion starting points, a photocopiable questionnaire for students and quotes by famous people who have experienced bullying. Also included are 6 poster images that can be printed up to A3 size and displayed around school.
This visual quiz challenges children to work out what the object is from a close up photograph of part of it. Full photos of the objects also included . A useful, fun end of year activity for primary aged children. Over 40 slides.
This resource provides a structure for students own self analysis. They can also be used by teachers to provide feedback. One sheet prompts students to consider how effectively they have covered the AOs and what else they need to do before the deadline. Another sheet provides a framework for teacher feedback under the four individual AOs. Provided as a Word document for complete editing freedom.
This exciting unit of work is provided ion two formats, an "at a glance" version and an in depth version. Each version includes a step by step guide to delivering the lessons in the unit.
