This Handout contains model answers for all questions set in the Edexcel A Level Politics Paper 3a (US Politics) in 2023.
It has been written and prepared by a Politics teacher and Examiner with 30 years’ experience of teaching and marking Politics.

Model Answers for Section A. Both “short answer” questions are covered on the differences between the Lords and the US Senate and the policy similarities between one US party and one UK political party.
Section B. A model answer is provided for the compulsory question on the roles of the US President and UK Prime Minister.
Section C. Model answers are provided for all three questions on the Congress, the theory of checks and balances and campaign finance.
