Factorising – Bigger Picture.
Pre Assessment – pupils to demonstrate how much they can remember on the side of “what they should know”.
Post Assessment – after pupils have been introduced to the new concept they then sit a quick assessment of a couple of questions to show they understand how to solve equations.
Mastery post assessment – pupils demonstrate they have mastered the topics they have been taught confidently without any support. They have mastered the topic not necessarily through problem solving but through showing confidence in fluency questions without support.
2.Pre Assessment: Foundation/developing/secure – Factorising simple expressions, Factorising expressions. (18 questions in total)
Post Assessment: Secure 1 – Factorising quadratics ( 6 questions in total), secure 2 – difference of two squares ( 8 questions in total), exceeding – Factorise and solve quadratics (6 questions in total).
Contains;
1. 38 questions, moving from foundation level to exceeding.
2.Pre Assessment questions/post assessment questions.
3. 38 solutions provided.
4. Set of instructions to ensure the task runs smoothly.
5. Printable version – white version.
6. Please download file and ensure you don’t just drag and drop to google drive as this can cause issues with the viewing the file.
Printing Tip: This resource has been designed to display on board or print on A4. If you wish to print, select ‘shrink’ or ‘print to fit page’ (or fit to page option on your print settings) in order for it to print correctly on A4.
Tip 2: You could laminate and reuse for other classes. This could be printed in colour and used over and over again. Saving you time and money on the printing costs.

Idea behind task;
Get pupils to demonstrate individually how confident they are at Factorising expressions and quadratics and also to address misconceptions at an individual level. Pupils can show clear understanding and if they get stuck then it allows us to put an intervention in place from the onset.
