Each lesson is easy to follow, contains all the information you need to teach straight away with simple instructions as you go along, and everything is editable too. Includes: 1) Extremism and Fake News - Brand new for 2026. This two-hour lesson covers how we can check whether news posts on social media are real or fake, why its always important to check, especially before sharing, what can happen if we don’t, and how easily social media can lead us into extremist ways of thinking. 2) Religious Hate Crime in the UK (2 hours) - A new PSHE / Citizenship lesson focusing on why there has been an increase in reported religious hate crimes in the UK over the last two years. The lesson delves into the opinions of the British public on the subject, from those who have witnessed or experienced religious hate crime, to those working to fight against it. Students will examine the work of interfaith projects to help promote cohesion and understanding before working on a creative ‘More in Common’ project. 3) What is Fascism and how do we recognise it? A new critical-thinking / Citizenship resource that delves into what fascism is, the history of the ideology, what fascists believe and whether it is helpful to overuse such a powerful term in political discourse today. The lesson contains a source pack, clip with questions and answers, exit ticket plenary and lots of information so you don’t need to already be an expert. 4) Extremism - Algorithms and Subcultures - Brand new PSHE lesson all about how video platform algorithms (such as YouTube and Tiktok) can lead us to viewing extreme ideas and conspiracy theories, as well as subcultures (such as incels culture /misogyny) - often without us ever intending to. The lesson investigates what these extreme subcultures are, and how we are allowing platforms to shape our views and interests and what this may mean for wider society. Students will examine case studies of students who stumbled upon extreme videos or radical movements and see how they arrived at this content from first watching innocent or benign videos aligning with their interests. 5) Political Polarisation - A new lesson which could be used in Citizenship, PSHE or Tutor Time all about how and why we may be becoming more politically polarised and the importance of dialogue and listening to others with different opinions to ourselves. The lesson focuses on the murder of Charlie Kirk - but also covers other political assassinations from the past few years such as Sir David Amess and Jo Cox. The aim of the lesson is to teach students how to have peaceful, constructive debates even over controversial opinions and to promote peace and dialogue. 6) Extremism on the Far Right 2026 - A new PSHE / Citizenship lesson focusing on the new far-right extremism and rhetoric of 2026 which is reaching students from American groups such as the ‘groypers’. This lesson doesn’t name the influencers but it confronts the hateful messaging and extremism coming from very popular podcasters by breaking it down and refuting its racist and antisemitic messaging with sensible facts and logic. The lesson will last you at least 1 hour and everything is editable. All information you need is included. 7) Extremism + Ideology - 2 hours - New lesson about all different types of extremism and radical ideology / subcultures. Students will first explore how TikTok and Youtube algorithms can recommend videos which purposefully push radical views, from misogyny to extreme religion and more, to people who did not intentionally search for such content, and discover how people can fall down radical rabbit-holes. They will examine the 'frog in a pot' analogy to show how extremist views can take such a stronghold on people. 8) Immigration, Migrant Hotels and Flags - A new PSHE / Citizenship lesson focusing on why there is so much debate surrounding the housing of migrants in hotels, why there are so many flags appearing everywhere around the UK and why we’re seeing an increase in street protests . Students will investigate the reasons for both sides protesting (pro and anti asylum seekers in hotels), the difference between hate speech and free speech and the difference between patriotism and nationalism. There is enough content to last up to 2 hours. Who are EC Resources?
