Subject: Religion, Math
Grades: 5-6
Students will use their bibles and a ruler to determine the approximate distance Jesus walked during his life.
I like to use this lesson during Holy Week and recommend having a large map of the Holy Land, a transparency of the handout, a bible for each student, rulers, and pencils.
The worksheet has both a front and back. The front has a section for looking up scripture and writing a brief summary of how it pertains to Jesus, while the back has a map for students to number the locations and measure the distances in centimeters and then convert this into miles.
I have included the worksheet, answer key, lesson plan, and a picture of the bulletin board I use with this lesson.
You can purchase the large map called "Where Jesus Walked: Then and Now" from Rose Publishing (http://www.rose-publishing.com/Where-Jesus-Walked-Then-And-Now-Maps-Wall-Chart-Laminated-P7.aspx#.VakCT3iFnO8).
