FRENCH TELLING TIME LIRE L’HEURE DOMINOES - FIVE & TEN MINUTES AND FIVE & TEN MINUTES PAST THE HOUR - THREE DIFFERENTIATED GAMES AND CHALLENGES!
My students love to work and learn independently, and dominoes games are a firm favorite! They’re really versatile, and we use them not only during the introduction phase of learning these particular clock times, but at many times across the school year - as starters, warm-ups, plenaries, practice & refresh, and also free-choice activity time - I always have a range of folders ready for my students to select particular content according to what area they feel they’d like to work on.
THREE GAMES, THREE CHALLENGES!
Challenge One: clock times in numerical order, time phrase to clock face
Challenge Two: clock times in topsy-turvy order, time phrase to clock face
Challenge Three: clock times in topsy-turvy order, clock face to time phrase
There are also two full reference lists of all clock times - both in numerical and in topsy-turvy order, which my students find these really useful - as they become more confident about telling time, they’ll need them less and less, though it’s useful as a ‘forever’ reference resource. It’s a lot of work, but laminating is certainly worth the effort if you can - the dominoes are far easier and sturdier to work with, and last for absolutely years!
