From A to B
This is an open-ended investigation during which small groups of pupils explore the accuracy of route planning. They are encouraged to explore route-planning websites, satellite images, mapping software and use their general knowledge to develop an accurate prediction of how long a journey will take. A local journey could be planned and tested by the teacher to evaluate the effectiveness of the pupils' predictions. Pupils should be encouraged to report their findings and conclusions back to the rest of the class.
