This resource has been designed for students working towards Functional Skills Maths qualifications at Entry Level 2. It contains an age-appropriate, 80-slide Powerpoint lesson and a 24-page workbook on subtraction (outcome 5 - subtract two-digit numbers).
PowerPoint Lesson
The PowerPoint clearly explains how to subtract using column subtraction with and without regrouping. It provides may opportunities for pupils to practice this skill. There are also a number of one and two-step word problems involving subtraction.
The PowerPoint also contains hyperlinks to two short videos (less than 2 minutes) on how to subtract using the column method.
The PowerPoint can be used to introduce the subtraction component of the Entry Level 2 specification and for revision purposes.
Workbook
The 24-page workbook contains 4 information/explanation pages, 19 worksheets, two progress checks, a certificate of achievement and answers.
The resource is provided in both PDF format and an editable PowerPoint version to allow for editing of the resource to suit your students’ needs. It is ideal for classwork, homework, revision or as an independent learning pack.
