These work sheets contain step by step activities for pupils to investigate their cardiovascular responses to different exercise intensities. Heart rate monitors can be used for greater accuracy or manual pulse method used for 30 seconds after each activity has finished. The exercises can be adapted to suit the group or the facility and non-doers can help to time and record data.

Lesson 1: Practical investigation and data collection.
Lesson 2: Data interpretation. Pupils plot graphs, calculate HR %, compare their responses to training zones and explain why their cardiovascular system has responded in the way that it has.

Great for group/paired work and leads nicely into the study of stroke volume and cardiac output. All responses are recorded on the work sheets. *Fantastic for cross-curricular numeracy!*
