Handling Data - Functional Skills Maths - Entry Level 1

This resource has been designed for students working towards Functional Skills Maths qualifications at Entry Level 1(Edexcel-Pearson, NCFE, City and Guilds, NOCN and Open Awards). It contains an age-appropriate, 36-page workbook and a 110-slide PowerPoint lesson on handling information and data (outcomes 11,12,13).

Both resources will help pupils to achieve the following outcomes:

Workbook

The 35-page workbook contains 9 information/explanation, 24 worksheets, two progress checks, a certificate of achievement and answers. The workbook will help pupils to achieve the following outcomes:

read numerical information from lists
sort and classify objects using a single criterion
read and draw simple charts and diagrams including a tally chart, block
diagram/graph

PowerPoint Lesson

The PowerPoint clearly explains what numerical lists, tally charts and block graphs are, how to construct them and how to interpret them. The PowerPoint provides many opportunities for pupils to identify and find information and data from lists, tally charts and block graphs. It is ideal both to introduce the handling data component of the specification and for revision purposes.
