Flip- chart moves through stages of multiplication as repeated addition and then an array. Can be made more practical (fun) by having a collection of small pairs of socks and lots of real life examples of an array. Also children love the chocolate challenge!

I like the resource but have downloaded active inspire but cannot edit the flip chart.
    I also would teach 5+5 as 2 times 5 rather than 5 times 2.
    Unsure how to edit it.

Hello: Long shot - i am settled in Gambia West Africa and we are living quite rural. My son is 7.5 years and his friend 8. They are in school but not progressing and so am doing some home schooling - I need some support / guidance....anyone have some time to spare to support me with this task?

This is a great resource with colourful graphics that children can understand and I was really excited that I'd found something so useful. The only issue I have is that where you say 5+5 is 5x2 I would teach that 5+5 is 2 lots of 5, therefore 2x5. I know both ways make sense but it makes it a bit confusing when you teach 'lots of' and as you specify this as how to set it out it would be useful if it could be adapted. Is there any way to change from read only?

      Hi,
Thank you for you review. If you have active inspire the flipchart can be altered to suit your needs. You can download active inspire for free from the Promethean website. I am sorry I make all my resources using this programme and when they are converted they can't be altered. If this doesn't work for your needs, please get in touch and I will adapt the original and send it to you.
