Johnny and the Dead by Terry Pratchett adapted by Stephen Briggs

You will need to purchase a copy of the script for this SOW.

Story:

Sell the cemetery? Over their dead bodies…Not many people can see the dead (not many would want to). Twelve-year-old Johnny Maxwell can. And he’s got bad news for them: the council want to sell the cemetery as a building site, but they’d better watch out - the dead have learnt a thing or two from Johnny. They’re not going to take it lying down …especially since it’s Halloween tomorrow. Besides, they’re beginning to find that life is a lot more fun than it was when they were…well…alive. Particularly if they break a few rules …

This unit of work introduces the story, characters, themes and has further discussion activities. It also includes information about types of staging and use of stage in theatres.
The PowerPoint includes 7 lessons worth of material.

It would appropriate for Year 9 + and could even be used for AQA Drama Component 3 scripted performance

*I do not own any of the media used in this unit of work
