Atlas Mapping Task - South America Mapping Task - KS2 / KS3 / GCSE Geography – Exploring Places

Includes both a PDF version and editable Word Document version.

An activity designed to allow pupils the opportunity to build upon their World knowledge as well as consolidate their Atlas skills.

This resource directs pupils to use an Atlas (book or online) to map as many of the key locations such as country names, capital cities, mountains and rivers onto the base map of South America which has been provided. Pupils are provided with a ‘checklist’ of what to map and are encouraged to design their own key to when presenting this information.

I have found this resource useful with both KS3 and KS4 Geography pupils as an introductory task when teaching about places within South America. I find it best used as an independent home learning but have also used within the classroom. This task would also be accessible for KS2 pupils when exploring places within the continent of South America.

Adaptable versions are included in this download enabling you to alter to suit your school’s geography curriculum or to cater to the needs of your teaching groups.
