Literacy Nuts and Bolts - Zuzi's Story
A 'Literacy Nuts and Bolts' lesson featuring short, sharp literacy tasks and a main writing feature. The theme of this lesson is based around pets, in particular a dog called Zuzi and a heart-warming story of a mistreated stray who is rescued and given a loving home. Very emotive and engaging with students.
Full lesson Power Point includes:
* Starter activity and extension activity - students list/describe their favourite breeds of pets.
* Lesson objectives and explanation of why literacy errors often occur.
* Capital letter task.
* Brief grammar check - "I was/we were."
* There, Their and They're activity and answers.
* Short possessive apostrophe task.
* Link to Zuzi's story - 5 minute video clip.
* Word connection plenary activity.
Hand out resources available at the back of the Power Point.
