Money - Functional Skills Maths - Entry Level 2

This resource has been designed for students working towards Functional Skills Maths qualifications at Entry Level 2. It contains an age-appropriate, 130-slide PowerPoint lesson and a 45-page workbook on money - Outcome 12: Calculate money with pence up to one pound and in whole pounds of multiple items and write with the correct symbols (£ or p).

PowerPoint Lesson

The PowerPoint includes explanations, tasks and activities designed to help pupils to achieve the following outcomes:

to recognise coins and notes and know their value
to understand that different coins can have the same value
to count money in pence, pounds and pounds and pence
to convert from pence to pounds and pence and from pounds and pence to pence
to select the correct coins to pay for items

Many opportunities are provided within the PowerPoint for pupils to develop their knowledge and understanding of money.

The PowerPoint is ideal for introducing the fraction component of the Entry Level 2 specification and for revision purposes.

Workbook

The 45-page workbook contains nine information/explanation pages,thirty-three worksheets, two progress checks, a certificate of achievement and answers. Tasks and activities have been designed to help pupils to achieve the following outcomes:

to use knowledge of money to solve real-life word problems
