My ADHD Brain – Pupil Workbook
Understanding my brain, finding what helps me, and building a plan that works for me.
My ADHD Brain is a practical, pupil-friendly workbook designed to help children and young people understand ADHD in a positive, accessible and strengths-based way.
Rather than focusing on what a pupil “can’t do”, the workbook helps them explore how their individual brain works, recognise the things they find difficult, discover their strengths and identify practical strategies and supports that genuinely help.
Pupils explore attention and concentration, movement needs, motivation, task initiation, working memory, time awareness, organisation, transitions, impulsivity, emotional intensity, overload, sensory needs, masking, friendships and asking for help.
Practical activities encourage pupils to experiment with strategies rather than being told what should work, helping them gradually develop their own personalised toolkit.
The workbook culminates in an individual ADHD Learning Passport, giving pupils a meaningful way to communicate:
What I’m good at • What helps me focus • How I know I’m becoming overloaded • What helps me regulate • How to help me start and remember • How I prefer to ask for help
Perfect for
Upper KS2 and KS3 pupils with ADHD or emerging/identified attention and executive-function needs. Ideal for SEND/SEN support, nurture groups, ELSA-style sessions, mentoring, pastoral interventions, 1:1 work and classroom support.
Approach
The workbook is trauma-informed, nurture-informed, neurodiversity-affirming and regulation-first. Difficulties are explored without shame, while pupils are still supported to develop skills, recognise the impact of their actions, repair when needed and gradually build independence.
Support isn’t cheating. Different doesn’t mean less. Understanding my brain helps me learn how to work with it.
