Came across my own resources on TES put up by an ex colleague: interesting! Since they have now been taken back down I'll put them back up (in their proper place, but also including the the chemistry and physics versions.
To be used as either homeworks or in class as peer assessments (particularly longer writing task). Can stretch as homeworks for the entire units. May be some mistakes - proof read before printing!
Said I'd put this up - still at the test stage but the intention is to use this as an introduction to AS biology and bridge the gap between GCSE/A level.
I've concentrated on units, maths, command words, table and graphrules and a root glossary (ie latin and greek),the intention being to give pupils a chance to interpret specialist terms. Command words, tables and graph info taken from OCR spec, all other mistakes are my own. Two short tests are included that supplement booklet. There is a superb Biology A level practical skills booklet knocking around resources somewhere, I recommend that.
I am grateful for any suggestions for possible improvements.
Delivered as whole school INSET. Uses familiar story (Red Riding Hood) for staff to plan a lesson around using strategies. Some slides may require further explanation; please contact me if you cannot work out what I was thinking.
This is for a 100 minute lesson, but there are two tasks which could be split over two 50 min lessons.
The Timeline Poster is one activity and the Darwin text based activity is the second activity.
The text may be too textual for low ability or low reading age students, my low reading age group had an LSA and they were ACE!
