Three differentiated worksheets that work on addition and subtraction for Year 4 children. Having used a similar format in my own lessons, these sheets often provide enough challenge for two days lessons, with children taking on the easier work then moving on to harder challenges within the other sheets. These have all been made with mastery in mind and so follow this pattern. A lesson that focuses on being able to introduce Asia. Included in the lesson is: A lesson presentation that includes a map of Asia to discuss as well as some information to introduce the continent with some extra detail. This is finished off with some true or false questions. A recap task (this lesson is the sixth in a sequence having focused on continents, oceans, the Americas, Africa and Europe) which can be used or ignored as the lesson can stand alone. An answer sheet is also included for the recap task. An independent activity that includes labelling Asia on a map of the world, completing true or false questions linked to the continent and identifying numbered countries on a map of Asia. There is also a challenge question to extend understanding. An answer sheet is also included for this alongside a support sheet with a map of Asia.

Two fully-resourced lessons that focus on looking at cities in the United Kingdom and being able to use different compass points. The first lesson focuses on looking at different types of settlement and being able to identify these by images/ by description. This then moves on to focusing on cities in the United Kingdom, identifying cities on a map as well as then being challenged to find more cities for each county of the United KIngdom. Included is a lesson presentation with modeling and discussion as well as independent activities that includes answer sheets. There is also a recap task based on previous lessons in the sequence to identify capital cities of the UK and seas and oceans. The second lesson focuses on different compass points, recapping the four compass points and using the eight compass points. These are then used to link to the first lesson in being able to describe the position of one city to another using compass points. Included is a lesson presentation that provides the chance to model and discuss, a recap task linked to the previous lesson to support retention of learning and independent activities linked to the learning. Fully planned, differentiated and resourced unit of work looking at information texts. Included are all the slides, planning and resources needed to run each lesson, with 14-15 lessons that focus on key features of information texts and work on different skills before completing their own independent writing. Written for Year 5 but easily adaptable between Year 3 and Year 7. Skills include: researching and planning, reading comprehension, using generalisers, creating a glossary and structuring a text with sub-headings and a topic phrase.

A quiz that gets children to try and identify 30 different flags from around the world. A fun geography activity for the end of the year or as a general activity to check knowledge of different flags.

A lesson/ two lessons based on discussions on being able to write character descriptions. The lesson is based on the mini story of Geri's game that is shown on Literacy Shed with the key element of the lesson focussing on being able to describe one character as if there are two people there. Included in the presentation is work on adjectives, the link for the clip, questions for children to answer (and answers my children came up with) and a small example of being able to write a description of one character as if he is two different people.
