This is a full lesson covering Oxidations states for AS Level. It covers calculating the oxidation state of an element in a compound or ion from the formula;
writing half-equations; identifying the oxidation and reduction processes in redox reactions and combining half-equations to give an overall redox equation.
It also covers more complex half equations that include H+ (in acids) or transition metals.
Included is:
40+ page Power Point with explanations and examples at each stage.
4 Sets of questions and answers (including exam style questions similar to ones from the AQA past papers)
A sheet with diagrams (to save time) for students to make notes on
A sheet of the oxidation state rules
Answers in the Power Point and Word format to allow students to self assess or “correct” their answers.
