Letters and Sounds
Phase 3 Phonics covers the remainder of the alphabet and moves onto consonant and vowel digraphs, and r-controlled vowels. It focuses on letter sound recognition of these graphemes as well as blending and segmenting activities. The more practice young readers get with interacting with and reading these letter sounds, the more confident they will become when recognising them in their independent and shared reading.
