This pack contains:
• Activity instructions for each activity,
• An activity for each group of letter sounds grouped in the following way:
o Week 1: words using CVCC patterns such as ‘fast’ and ‘point’,
o Week 2: words using CCVC and CCVCC patterns, such as ‘flag’ and ‘drink’,
o Week 3: words using CCCVC and CCCVCC patterns, such as ‘splat’ and
‘scrunch’,
o Week 4: Polysyllabic words such as compound words.

Preparation:
This pack requires printing, and if required laminating. Some activities require cutting out and minimal assembly, and others are ready to use, depending on the skill and content being taught.

Letters and Sounds
Phase 4 Phonics is a phase of consolidation, where phonics knowledge gained in Phase 2 and 3 is applied to words. This phase also focuses on words that use adjacent consonants. The more practice young readers get with interacting with and reading these letter sounds, the more confident they will become when recognising them in their independent and shared reading.
