Build confidence with arithmetic sequences through a complete, print-free Year 8 maths lesson using I Do, We Do, You Do. This editable 82-slide PowerPoint takes pupils from recognising multiples to finding nth-term rules with positive and negative adjustments, using rules to calculate future terms and explaining whether a number belongs to a sequence. Twenty individual assessment-for-learning questions come before independent practice. Every question is immediately followed by its dedicated solution, making it straightforward to discuss responses and decide whether pupils are ready to move on. Coverage includes increasing and decreasing sequences, negative starting terms, future terms, missing positions and deriving a rule from two known terms.

DIFFERENTIATION IN ONE PROJECTED TASK
The whole-class practice slide contains eight Developing questions, eight Secure questions, five Greater Depth questions and a numbered Super Challenge. Developing questions establish multiples and positive adjustments. Secure questions extend to negative adjustments and decreasing sequences. Greater Depth includes non-consecutive terms, membership tests, the first negative term and explanations about incorrect rules.

MISCONCEPTIONS EXPLAINED
Dedicated questions tackle adding the first term directly to dn and confusing a position-to-term rule with a term-to-term instruction. Worked solutions compare the first term with the corresponding multiple, calculate the adjustment and substitute a position to confirm the rule. Pupils also see why a non-whole-number position cannot identify a term in the sequence.

MINIMALLY DIFFERENT PRACTICE
Eighteen practice questions are organised into three blocks. One changes the adjustment, one changes the common difference while retaining the adjustment, and one moves through increasingly negative adjustments.

CHALLENGE AND REVIEW
The Super Challenge asks pupils to recover an arithmetic sequence from its third and seventh terms, find its rule and prove whether two specified values occur. The numbered solutions mirror all three stages. A six-question starter, prerequisite checks, vocabulary, deepen task, exam-style question and three exit checks provide further opportunities to assess understanding.
